Downtown Jefferson will come alive with music, performances, art, and activity during the first-ever Buskerfest, Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 am to 2 pm around the downtown square.
So, what exactly is a busker? A busker is a street performer who brings their talent directly into public spaces, creating spontaneous entertainment for people passing by. Buskers can include musicians, singers, dancers, and other performers, turning sidewalks, street corners and unexpected spaces into their stage. Buskers perform for tips, so visitors are encouraged to bring a little cash to how their appreciation for the performers they enjoy!
During Jefferson’s first Buskerfest, more than 15 street performers will be spread throughout the downtown square. Visitors may find performers on street corners, tucked into alleyways, and even performing inside local businesses.
The idea is to explore downtown and see what you discover along the way.
In addition to live performances throughout the day, Buskerfest will feature chalk art, food trucks, and downtown shopping. Visitors are encouraged to stroll the square, grab something to eat, visit local shops, and take in performances throughout downtown.
Buskerfest is a new event organized by Jefferson Matters and designed to create a lively, creative atmosphere while giving visitors another opportunity to experience downtown Jefferson and its businesses.
There is no single stage or one performance to watch. Instead, FREE entertainment will be offered throughout downtown, giving visitors the chance to wander, discover new performers, and experience the event at their own pace. “Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 am to 2 pm, and come experience the first Buskerfest in downtown Jefferson,” a Jefferson Matters spokesperson said.
